Teacher charged with possessing lewd pictures of Linda Rafar

KUANTAN, Malaysia: A Chinese primary school teacher was yesterday charged with possessing two diskettes allegedly containing lewd photographs of popular singer/actress Linda Rafar.
The offence was allegedly committed at his home here in November 2004.
Foo Tip Hin of Jalan Telok Sisek pleaded not guilty before magistrate Nordiana Abdul Aziz.
The two diskettes labelled "BW1" and "Skandal Melayu LR" were said to contain lewd photos of the 31-year-old former member of the now defunct pop group Elite.
Foo, 56, a bachelor appeared calm when the charge was read to him.
When Nordiana set bail at RM4,000 (S$1661.20), Foo who spoke in Bahasa Malaysia, appealed for a reduced amount.
"I have no intention to run away as I am a civil servant who is respectful of the law."
When the magistrate asked for his details, Foo said he was living with his mother after his father had passed away.
Foo said he was earning RM3,700 teaching English, Mathematics and Bahasa Melayu at a Chinese primary school here.
Nordiana reduced the bail to RM3,500 with two sureties and fixed May 14 for mention. Foo, who was accompanied by a friend, posted bail.
If convicted, he faces a maximum RM50,000 fine or five years' jail or both.
Foo was caught by a Commercial Crime Division team from Bukit Aman at his home at 5pm on Nov 27, 2004.
Linda was once embroiled in a controversy in 1999 when doctored nude photos of her and a popular member of then boy band KRU, Edry Abdul Halim, surfaced on the Internet.
Chief Inspector Mohamed Zakaria prosecuted the case. -NST
