How sexy are Singapore women? The report card
by Pearlin Siow
ARE SINGAPORE WOMEN SEXY?
A resounding “Yes!” from everyone – local men, expat guys and the women themselves.
How many said “Yes”?
For us girls, we know we’re hot – 86.6 per cent of us feel that someone finds us sexy at least once a week. But you can’t win ‘em all. What did the guys love about us? And what they did not?
WHAT’S HOT?
Local guys ranked the way we dress (54 per cent) and our confidence (46 per cent) as the top two attributes they appreciate. That certainly scores points with us. Like what food and beverage director Rufus Tan, 35, says: “They speak their minds, which can be sexy.”
In contrast, expat guys zero in on the physical bits, placing our bodies (80 per cent), legs (70 per cent) and hair (60 per cent) as the top three things they find sexy. “The women are slim even though they eat all the time!” exclaims befuddled Brit, Jeremy Tate, 29.
WHAT’S NOT?
The guys all agree on one point: They hate the way we talk, according to 69 per cent of local men polled and 67 per cent of expats. Erm… perhaps it’s time we signed up for elocution lessons?
ARE WE GOOD FLIRTS?
It depends on who we’re flirting with.
- 79% of local men say NO
They find us too shy, standoffish, and yes, we aren’t eloquent enough.
- 73% of expat men say YES
They love the way we touch and tease, which makes us great flirts!
Here’s our conclusion: Either local and expat men are socialising with completely different sets of women, or we shift and change our personalities depending on the guy in front of us. Go figure.
Do we think we’re good at flirting? It seems we agree with the local guys. “I clam up when I like someone!” says student Freda Ong, 29. To human resources manager Brenda Zheng, 32, flirting can be a minefield: “I don’t want to seem too forward and eager, so I don’t flirt.”
