As the Minister for National Development, Khaw Boon Wan who is also the PAP
Chairman, directed a cut in town council funding to APHETC after the Workers’
Party won Aljunied.

This led to budget constraints for the AHPETC, which were compounded by:

(1) the sudden termination of the town council fund management system by a $2
company called AIM set up by former PAP MPs;

(2) lack of proper handover of records from the former PAP team for Aljunied
led by millionaire Lim Hwee Hua.

The situation created difficulties for AHPETC in managing their funds.

The State media and MND then played up this and the latter initiated a
special audit.
Using the audit findings as an excuse, Khaw then proceeded to
withhold fundings to AHPETC to further tighten the “stranglehold”.

Now MND has taken AHPETC to Court because the latter did not accede to its
choice of PWC as the independent auditor due to potential bias as PWC had been
engaged by AGO to conduct an earlier special audit of AHPETC’s books.

Ever since WP won Aljunied and Punggol East, SPH in particular the Straits
Times have become much more blatant in their attacks on and smearing campaign
against the oldest Opposition party in Singapore.

News on WP are given a negative spin with unflattering headlines and
photo.

In addition, during the smear campaign against WP over the issue of trade
fairs, Straits Times reporters and photographers seem to have gained an uncanny
ability to appear right when NEA officers were conducting their raids.

Reports on NEA taking actions against AHPETC also seemed to appear
immediately, indicating that the lapdog sheet was being enrolled by NEA in a
coordinated attack on WP.

All this should not surprise anyone: SPH itself is helmed by PAP cronies
starting with Lee Boon Yang, the former PAP Minister for Information,
Communication & the Arts as its Chairman.

Below Lee Boon Yang, the former Principal Private Secretary of the late LKY,
Alan Chan, orchestrates the pro-PAP propaganda as the CEO with his lapdog Warren
Fernandez, an almost-PAP candidate in the 2006 elections.

The PAP has openly proclaimed its opposition to the concept of the media as
the Fourth Estate like in Western Democracies.

The reality is that today, the MSM already occupies this role – but as the
agent of the PAP to influence the populace into supporting the governing
Party.

The appointment of the PAP crony auditors is tantamount to taking over the WP TC.

These two cronies will hold control of the finances and will hamper WP TC operations in every way they can so that the residents will pay the price. Then the PAP can boast in the next election that the WP TC has failed the residents in the opposition wards.

The takeover of the WP TC is a serious violation of the role of the MP and breach of the constitution. The elected MPs represent the people, yet it is the cronies of the PAP that are ordering the Opposition MPs around.

When is the WP going to fight back hard?

Is the WP MPs conceding power to the PAP?

Frame the issue as is - that is this is a power grab by the PAP from elected Opposition MPs.

When two unelected control the money tap, there is nothing that the WP MPs can do without approval from the PAP indirectly.

Start attacking back. Make this an international use to showcase how despotic the PAP government is.

The withholding of funds happened before the issue was raised publicly.

That the WP could manage to run the constituencies for two years of public funds demonstrate their astute financial management and efficiency. Residents didn't suffer any significant failure in services for the two years.

This shows how good the WP is in managing the estates.
