How much should one earn to maintain a household ?

House, internet, HP Bills, PUB Bills, mother, wife and 1 kid

Excluding car.

Those who poll, pls stat your income and expenses and if it is struggling/just enough to get by/still can save some $ ?

Nobody should live from hand to mouth. All breadwinners should save at least 40% of their net earnings in order to plan for financial independence once they hit their early 40s.

My recommendation is for households to aim for a net income (after tax and cpf deductions) of about $10,000 per month while spending not more than $6000 per month on the sum of all their household overheads.

This will enable them to invest $4000 per month in long term investments.

$1500 - $2000 is what teenagers work for in western world .
