Characters like him had their use when Singaporeans were frustrated with PAP but did not dare speak up, thus the necessity for side-show freaks like UY and his antics. By constantly making a fool of himself, he unknowingly pushed the boundaries with hits-and-misses, giving the more sensible ones time to observe the fallout and begin to formulate a strategy around what really mattered to Singaporeans.

But with the fall of Aljunied, a new era of politics has begun, people like him will be left behind politically now that the moderate Singaporeans know that their voice in SG politics can be heard.

But with the gradual isolation of UY, there will always be other side-show freaks willing to take his place, and the thread starter is clearly the new performer.
