How many of these old cinemas have you visited?

I had a memorable experience at Yangtze cinema when I was a kid. It was an atas mall back in the day, even had a Burger King there.

My regular hangouts during primary school days were Ocean at Siglap, Hoover and President at Balestier Rd, Kok Wah at Boundary Rd, Paramount at Serangoon Gardens and Kong Chian at Toa Payoh.

Hoover became a live threaten venue
Paramount became a roller disco
But all the above demolished except for Kong Chian the building still standing till today

There was a small cinema at Upper Thomson Rd called Imperial. I think it's where the present community centre is. Then there was Zenith cinema at Tampines Rd before Kovan.

Kok Wah was at Yio Chu Kang Road. I went there to watch Grease in 1978. Yes, I also went to Paramount at Serangoon Gardens, Kong Chian at Toa Payoh. There was another cinema called Toa Payoh Cinema where I caught a few Carter Wong movies. Not forgetting Roxy at Katong and Zenith at Upper Serangoon/Tampines Rd. Self folding wooden backed seats. Plus can smoke in cinema those days, damn shiok.

One of my favourite movies was Tora Tora Tora.. Watched it @The Orchard cinema where Jackie's Bowl was!

My only regret is not exploring Bedok's Princess cinema back in the day before it was demolished. I went to Bedok during the SG50 year due to the free bus rides, walked past it but never entered it.

Similar vibes to the two old cineplexes in Clementi before they were demolished.
