It was an interesting act, but there is no magic involved.
He failed on 2 counts - A) law of gravity- nothing goes up without falling down. B) He used no sleeves which is a direct illusion to fool the naive.
A) He throws the object into the air, but it does not fall down. None has been able to show something that goes up does not come down.
B) Most entertainers would wear long sleeves, which is a place to hide objects & long known. Thus he wears no sleeves to 'prove' his illusion is real. However, in this modern age, silicon when painted with the right matching colors & stuck to the skin as a pocket, would show a seemingly clear hand to hide objects.
To prove my point, look at how he had to open his fingers WIDE before pulling out the right sized object - its a means to hide the transformation of the object which can RETRACT like a fan to shape & size of a pencil.
It may or may not be how he hide his illusion. Entertainers like him are intelligent but any mortal can be like him. All it takes is practice, practice & practice, BEFORE a mirror, for days or weeks to get it right.
Ultimately, my point is that there is NO magic on planet Earth. Science is empirical with its evidences & methodology. Thus may none by fooled or scammed by those who mouthed otherwise to cheat others of their beliefs, savings & life.
