As someone who was deeply involved in 3D graphics since the early 90s, I have to say the time has finally come when we can fake reality with existing technology.
And all this is rendered in real-time....

In the old days, technology wasn't advanced, so the developers put in extra effort in writing, gameplay etc. People still remember those classic games. Most of these modern games will be forgotten in a few years time.
