FOR the first time, the licensee of a budget hotel has been summoned to court for knowingly allowing prostitutes to ply their trade out of a guest room.
Lawyers say this is a landmark case that could shake up operations for budget hotels, many of which offer hourly rates with no questions asked.
The police said in a statement yesterday that a check on an unnamed hotel in Kitchener Road in Little India on Feb 10 led to the arrest of two female foreigners. The women were found in the company of their male clients in the room and were believed to have been prostitutes.
