Hong Kong singer Shirley Kwan left a disturbing update on her microblog at 4am yesterday, claiming, “I want to commit suicide!” The 46-year-old is said to be depressed ahead of changing record companies and after being betrayed by a close friend.

An hour after she claimed to want to end her life, she left a 200-word suicide note. “I don’t want to live (anymore)! My conscience is clear. Everyone (in the) music industry, company, friends, colleagues, family and media! I’ve made my decision and I will not be back. I don’t want to see anyone I’ve known in this life other than my son.”

Speculation is rife that her deal with the record company had fallen through, leading to Shirley’s depressed state.

In her suicide note, she hinted at being betrayed. “It’s crystal clear who betrayed me and who I should trust. I no longer wish to be treated unfairly (and) I don’t want to see you anymore! Watch your back.”

Friends and family have been unable to contact Shirley after she left the ominous message. Her manager had tried contacting her younger sister, who expressed that she might have been betrayed by a close friend of over a decade, sharing, “(She) left the message while she was emotional, she should be fine.”

Fellow singer Alan Tam, who worked with Shirley on previous projects, left a concerned message on her micro-blog, “There’s nothing in this world that doesn’t have a solution. You are the only one who can force yourself to fall into the abyss. Please appear again so that your friends and loved ones can share and solve your problem with you.”
