Images showing a young Hong Kong woman bungee jumping naked in Thailand have caused a stir online and have drawn the attention of local authorities. The police have arrested the owner of the recreational site, who was released after paying a 1,000 baht (US$30) fine.
The woman, identified as a model, was among a group of tourists from Hong Kong who visited the Centre Bungee Jump recreational site in Chiang Mai on May 6. She wore a black bikini but took it off just before she jumped.
One of her friends recorded the whole event, later posting the video and photos which went viral online, making headlines in local media and later drawing the attention of local authorities, Taiwan's Central News Agency reported.
A staff member of the tourist site who assisted the young woman tie her bungee cord said he understood the nude jumping was meant to be a publicity stunt, Thai local media Thaivisa News says.
Local police said Chiang Mai is a city of culture and the young woman's behavior goes beyond what can be tolerated. They are searching for the woman.
