<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I REFER to Mr Lawrence Chia's letter last Saturday, 'IDA should check stiff billing by telcos'. I agree and wish to add a couple more pointers.
Before cable TV arrived, we could record one channel on a video cassette recorder while watching another channel. Now we cannot do that unless we have a recorder from StarHub, which can be bought or rented at a high price. That is not really a choice.
Programmes are repeated on channels such as Hallmark, to cater for a regional audience, yet we cannot choose specific channels we want. Rather, channels are packaged as a bundle and I have channels I do not want. That is not a choice either, is it?
Our hands are tied and every time excuses are given that foreign networks determine the conditions. Doesn't StarHub have a voice?
It is time that the Infocomm Development Authority looked into it.
