Vaccination helps to drastically reduce suffering and death from Covid
This is especially important for old folks who have got various chronic health conditions or who are frail.
They are the most likely to suffer a lot and die from Covid, compared to younger folks.
Don’t prevent your old parents from getting vaccinated just bcos you don’t want to be vaccinated for whatever yayah papaya reasons.
Do you know what you are saying deep in your heart when you do that?
You would be sentencing your old parents to Covid suffering and high likelihood of death when you bring the virus home to them.
You are telling the woman who gave birth to you that you wish her to suffer the risk of unpleasant suffering or horrific death when the virus slips through the doorway of your home.
Don’t stop your spouse from getting vaccinated before you.
Do you know you are thinking deep in your mind that you don’t care if she suffers or dies from Covid when someone brings the virus home to you both?
Come on! Don’t play with someone else’s lives, especially when they are your nearest and dearest.
Conversely, we have elderly parents who dragged their adult children to go for their jabs.
Others are adult children finally persuading their old parents to get their shots, and feeling relieved that their parents are now protected.
Husbands persuading their wives or wives persuading their hubbies - silver haired couples showing up alongside youngsters getting their shots.
And don’t be impatient with old folks who are reluctant to be vaccinated.
Be patient, bcos half of them may have dementia, and the other half may have aches and pains that make them think they don’t want to chance any side effects.
Actually, for old folks, most have few or no side effects, for their 1st shot.
And the side effects, if any, are a powerful signal that their immune system is still healthy and strong.
Side effects are not a sign of covid.
And for that half second from the 2nd smallest needle used for vaccination, we can have peace of mind for better protection from the sufferings from Covid.
And there is the option of getting the Sinovac shots privately if we are still fearful of the better vaccines from Pfizer or Moderna.
Just know that 2 shots of Sinovac may give only partial protection no better than 1 shot of Pfizer or Moderna.
Just know that even 2 shots of Sinovac may give very little protection after a few months.
Nonetheless, 2 shots of Sinovac is better than no shot at all.
Some private clinics are also working to bring in SinoPharm. Hopefully, the first shipments should come sometime in August.
In the UAE, which used SinoPharm, their recommendations are to have a 3rd booster shot 6 months after the 2nd shot.
Likewise, Bahrain has similar recommendations, except they are offering Pfizer as their 3rd shot to follow the SinoPharm 2 shots.
In Indonesia, they are going to offer all their healthcare workers a 3rd shot of Moderna, after the earlier 2 shots of Sinovac. This is to better protect their healthcare workers who are most exposed, and enable their healthcare system to continue functioning.
