HK forummers think the singapore government is great

without even looking at the forum.

I believe the grass is always greener at the other side logic.

yeah, singapore is a well managed country worth the whole world to learn from it! Thumbs%20UpClap

undoubtedly, singapore is better than hong kong, except it has no winter and rs does not like that.

Wow! I honestly don't know how to take this in! But then again, the pasture is always greener on the other side of the fence I guess. I did write that life there is much more happening, but in terms of making a living and leading a quality life, not so sure.

They aren't as stupid as you think they are. The guy who is most supportive of the government here is also the one who kept repeating that we have democracy but no freedom which I feel is very true. Here its a very real democracy where we respect the rule of the majority however Freedom is sacrificed

Hongkong is also fake democracy.

They elect their Chief executive through a 800-member electoral college (businessmen, professionals, civil groups representatives ) that is controlled by Beijing.

Half their legislative seats are reserved for lawmakers who are pro-China, exactly the same method they use to elect the Chief executive.

The other 50% lawmakers are from direct elections where pro-democracy groups usually win 70% of seats. But they have no chance of controlling the legislative with the current election method. Anyway, many of their direct elected pro-democracy lawmakers are rumored to be under Beijing payroll already. Everything in their so called "democratic elections" are just a big wayang.

But I heard their media very free, a lot of political talk shows, can criticise HK govt and China. It's like Taiwan.

We also think HongKong government is better !

Who do you listen to ?

Which is better in fact ?

the hongkongers would treasure their $$$$$$ more than they would for freedom and democracy. Personally, there is no such thing as absolute freedom or democracy. If you work for your boss , definitely you have to listen to him order , like it or not.

Controlled? You must be kidding me. HK folks know how to fix their politicians. Even Wen Jiabao rather let Tong Jianhua die a natural death.

Tong Jianhua is the Beijing govt dog, not important. Hk folks not happy, Wen Jiabao change this dog and put in a new dog... this new dog not wanted by the peasants, never mind, many many dogs waiting to do the Chief Executive job.

i think its a ploy by Chinese government lah...when they were negotiating with UK, they have to make promises like 50yr unchanged blah blah to prevent the capital flight mah....still flocks of people emigrated from HK in fear of 1997. Scores returned after seeing that HK is still free - but once 50 yr up...whum...its like another back water province.

Its evident that China is growing Shanghai as the next financial centre to compete - to retake her role in the 30s. HK will once again be marginalise. Likewise to take back Taiwan, China can promise 100yr or even 200 yr of unchanged policies....all to take back a piece of land.

Are you sure Donald Tsang is a Beijing puppy? I think the HK folks got who they wanted as chief.
