SINGAPORE : The driver in an alleged hit-and-run accident has been identified after the motorcyclist involved made a plea for witnesses on Facebook.

The motorcyclist, who only wanted to be known as Deena, was riding with her friend, Nurul Afiqah, along Telok Blangah Road on Friday when they were hit by a black BMW at around 10.20pm.

Deena, who is in her 30s, was knocked off her motorcycle and dragged along the road for a few metres.

According to witnesses, the driver slowed down before fleeing the scene.

Describing the accident as “horrifying”, Deena said she was travelling on the centre lane when she noticed a car coming very close to her motorcycle. Before she could switch lanes, the vehicle swooped in on her right and collided with her bike.

A man and a group of cyclists came to their aid before the ambulance arrived and took them to Alexandra Hospital.

Both women suffered deep cuts and abrasions and have since been discharged.

After the accident, Deena took to Facebook to issue a plea for witnesses to step forward.

“I met [with] an accident on Oct 18 at 10.30pm along Telok Blangah towards Pasir Panjang Road (near Telok Blangah MRT). It was a hit-and-run by a brown/black BMW 6 Series which collided on my right and his side left of the car that dragged my bike a few metres.

“The said vehicle slowed down initially but sped off afterwards. If anyone witnessed the incident or know any brown/black BMW 6 series at a workshop for repair, please come forward with more information,” she posted on Sunday, along with photos of her injuries. The Facebook post was shared almost 1,500 times.

Police on Monday confirmed the male driver had been identified through information received from the public and is currently assisting in their investigations.
