Hit-and-run driver arrested

A 33-YEAR-OLD man who was involved in a hit-and-run traffic accident was arrested by the police on Monday with the help of the public. The driver had fled the accident after colliding into a stationary car. The accident occurred at the car park of Block 276 Tampines street 22 and eyewitnesses saw the suspect alight from his car to remove his car's registration number plates after colliding into the stationary car.
Though several members of the public tried to prevent him from leaving, the suspect still drove off. But his car registration number was taken down by eyewitnesses and given to the police. Commander of Traffic Police, Assistant Commissioner of Police Cheang Keng Keong thanked the members of public for their public-spiritedness which led to the swift arrest. The suspect faces a fine of up to $3,000 or jail of up to one year.
