I'm reading this brilliant ebook now about Afghanistan and how monsters like the Taliban and Al Qaeda were created. So many spy agencies were involved. The KGB, CIA, M16, the Pakistani Inter Intelligence Services, the Saudis. CIA supplied arms, money to the Afghans during the Soviet Invasion. One CIA spy even went to Afghanistan in 1996 to meet the famous warlord Ahmad Shah Massoud who was a moderate. There the CIA chap negotiated a deal with him to recover back the used stinger missiles that were provided by the CIA to the Afghan warlords fighting the Soviets in the 80s. The stinger missiles were effective in defeating the Soviets. If I remember correctly, the CIA offered $150,000 to the warlords for one Stinger being returned to them.

Now Massoud's son is leading the resistance against the Taliban in Panjshire Valley. I hope they can negotiate a peaceful resolution but I doubt these warlords will let go of blood feuds

The natural landscape of the Panshjir Valley made the area quite difficult for the Soviets in the 80s and the Taliban in 90s to defeat the Massoud lead Northern Alliance. But now they're at risk of being defeated by the Talibans with these Fucktards obtaining the massive weapons left behind by the Yanks last month. The Northern Alliance are receiving weapons and food supplies by the neighboring Tajikistan who are their ethnic cousins. But this present Taliban group are more cunning than their predecessors. They have cut off internet signals and are surrounding all 4 corners of the valley.
