MBS licences only after all criteria met

WE REFER to the report on the Inter-Pacific Bar Association's (IPBA) counter-claim against Marina Bay Sands (MBS) for alleged problems at its Annual Conference 2010, held at MBS on May 2 to 5 ('Law event organisers sue MBS', last Thursday).
The temporary occupation permit is issued by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) to certify that the building is safe for occupation. The casino licence is issued by the Casino Regulatory Authority (CRA) once regulatory requirements have been met. Both licences were issued to MBS when BCA and CRA were satisfied that all necessary requirements, without exception, had been fulfilled.
The contractual arrangement between MBS and IPBA to host the annual conference at the integrated resort is a private commercial undertaking between the two parties. The decision to issue all the necessary permits and licences to MBS was made independently and was not influenced by any particular event held at MBS.
