A WORKER cleaning the women's toilet at a petrol kiosk in Ipoh on 22 Jan found a pinhole camera hidden in a plastic socket.
It was pointed right at the squat toilet.
According to Sin Chew Daily, the camera, which had a five-hour battery life, was discovered about 25 minutes after it was installed.
No one had used the toilet during that time.
But three men were reportedly seen behaving suspiciously earlier outside the toilet during the same period.
The cleaner realised something was wrong when she saw an extra socket on the wall. When she looked closely, she was surprised to find that the socket contained the camera.
Malaysian papers reported that the hidden camera could have been the work of a syndicate that planned to reproduce and sell the footage.
The kiosk operator advised women to be more vigilant when using public toilets.
He said: "Please look out for 'unique' devices installed in any toilet. Besides, a socket is not supposed to be fixed in a wet place."
