This is the dramatic moment an off-duty policeman pulls a man from the path of a Madrid metro train with just a split second to spare.
With little regard for his own safety, the heroic man calmly jumped down on to the track and made his way to the stricken passenger before hauling him to safety as other people looked on in horror.
The 41-year-old man was drunk and lost his balance while waiting at Puerta del Angel station, in Madrid, according to El Pais.
He then tumbled over the edge on to the rails below and lay motionless as the metro train rumbled into the station.
Passengers on the opposite platform screamed for help and waved their arms in a desperate bid to get the driver to slow down.
But the unnamed police officer can then be seen on the CCTV footage lowering himself down to the tracks and pulling him clear as the train grinds to a halt inches away from him.
