A Singaporean woman who consumed herbal remedies to ease pain on her wrists has died after a one-month wait for a liver transplant.
Leong Kui Heong, 51, a public relations executive, died on Sunday.
She was believed to have taken herbal pills for the past one year after a friend recommended it.
China Press reported that she was subsequently diagnosed with acute liver problems in August.
The republic’s Health Sciences Authority conducted tests on the made-in-Malaysia pills and found that they contained harmful substances.
It then issued a warning to the public to stop consuming the pills.
