Dear brothers and sisters,

I am sharing healthy tips with brothers and sisters here:

http://www.tnp.sg/content/time-cut-back-rice

A local study says rice is one of the top five contributors of carbohydrates among diabetic patients in Singapore.

The study, which was done between 2010 and 2011, sheds light on the major sources of carbohydrates in patients with Type 2 diabetes here. It was released on Wednesday (May 14).

Please cut down rice. If you need to eat, I suggest you to eat soba which is made from buckwheat and it lowers the risk of diabetes.

Vegan beware! please dont eat so much rice!

hmmm, thanks for the article..but i do feel that it is the chicken and meat that cause her diabetes rather than the rice.

Tony, chinese vegetarians are very horrible! i am sorry if I have offended chinese vegetarians!
they like to eat mock meat which is high in carbo, caloring and artificial flavoring and this is not good for our health.

stay away from all the mocks...
only eat what is natural and from the ground.

rice alone do not cause diabetic, it is a combinations of other ingredients or food that cause rice to be toxic, more research need to be done.

go rip of your current set of teeth and replaced with horse or cow type set of teeth for grinding veggies.
better still, change the shape of you face to look like cow chewing veggies raw.

japanese people like to eat japanese rice which is very starchy but they have lower diabetes victims.
so what is the secret? i suspect green tea is good for all.

The Japs eat small portions of rice. Also in sushi the rice has been cooked and cooled, turning the rice into resistant starch, which doesn't increase blood sugar so quickly.

Generally, it's a myth that you have to give up rice or starches if you're diabetic. Just avoid high-glycaemic carbs (white rice, white bread, corn flakes, sugar) and go for low-glycaemic or resistant carbs (brown rice, whole-meal bread, grains, fruit, vegetables, potato, pasta).

You'll also need to exercise to burn off all the carbs and fats on your body.

I notice a lot of zhar bor like to eat the Korean breads, cakes, muffins and pastries: sugary, buttery and full of carbs. Go to any Breadtalk or Korean pastry shop, and do a gender count of the patrons.

Is it any surprise that a lot of them balloon up and have chunky cellulite on their thighs? ;)

Many think that simply stinting on calories will help them lose weight. What they don't know is that when you go on an extremely low-cal diet, your body switches to starvation mode (evolutionary response) and starts conserving fat by slowing down basal metabolism. So you actually burn fewer cals on a diet and your weight loss plateaus, while your body fat level may even increase.

Ultimately, to lose weight and reduce body fat percentage, there's no quick fix. The formula is simple though:

1. Eat fewer calories – low fat, moderate carb and protein intake
2. Burn more calories – cardiorespiratory (aerobic) and resistance (weights, calisthenics) exercises

Many older people get fat because of slowing metabolism & losing muscle mass. So even if your eating habits remain unchanged you are still likely to gain weight if you don't exercise.

Indeed. Just like camels storing fat on their humps, humans tend to store fat on their waist and buttocks.

Your body's first instinct is to SURVIVE, not look slim or pretty. That's what it is programmed to do.
