Harun Gang busted with duo’s arrest
KUALA LUMPUR: The Harun Gang, which targeted Carrefour Express and 7-Eleven outlets for robbery, has been busted with the arrest of two people at a house in Pandan Commercial, Ampang. Ampang Jaya police chief ACP Abdul Jalil Hassan said the suspects, aged 16 and 24, were nabbed at 9.45pm on Wednesday in their rented home.
“We found three handphone SIM cards, two memory cards, a woman’s identity card, three handphones, three bank cards, two machetes and two watches,” he said. Abdul Jalil said the suspects would commit the robberies in the wee hours of the morning before making their getaway on motorcycles.
With their arrest, he said police had solved 10 robbery cases involving Carrefour Express and 7-Eleven outlets. “The two do not have criminal records. They are being remanded for six days to be investigated for gang robbery and using dangerous weapons,” said Abdul Jalil. In another case, police arrested three men at a hotel in Ampang at 5am yesterday.
They are believed to be involved in robberies in the Klang Valley since last year. A police team tailing a car had stopped it and found a bag containing documents belonging to an American, three machetes, two knives, a packet of cannabis and pills. Police seized the car and the men have been put under remand for three days. — Bernama
