PATNA: A class 10 girl student of a private school in Bihar’s Saran district was allegedly raped by 15 male students and three teachers on the school premises for the past seven months.
Unable to endure the trauma any more, the 14-year-old girl approached police along with her father on Friday and lodged an FIR against the 15 male students, the principal and two assistant teachers of the school.
A team of policemen led by SDPO Ajay Kumar Singh reached the school, Dipeshwar Bal Vidya Niketan, at Parsagarh under Ekma police station and arrested four people named in the victim’s FIR after interrogating them briefly.
“School principal Uday Kumar Singh, teacher Balajee and two male students have been arrested. The 14 other accused are absconding. Raids are being conducted to arrest them,” said Ekma police station SHO Anuj Kumar Singh.
After the girl lodged the complaint, woman police station in-charge Indira Rani took her to district headquarters hospital at Chapra and got her medically examined. Rani was also part of the police team that visited the school and made the arrests.
According to the victim’s complaint, her ordeal began in December last when five male students raped her in the school toilet and made a video of the incident with their mobile phone. They used the video clip to blackmail her and raped her numerous times in the following next months along with some other male students of the school.
“When the video clip reached the school’s principal and two teachers about 17 days later, the trio also started blackmailing the victim and began raping her for months on the school premises,” said a police official citing the victim’s statement.
The victim’s father, who works outside Bihar, returned earlier this week, the girl told him of her traumatic experience. Before lodging the complaint with police, she and her father came to the school and confronted the three accused teachers, but the father-daughter duo was manhandled and driven out of the school, said police sources.
“A dedicated police team is working on this case and looking at all angles. Four arrests have been made, and more will follow shortly. This case would be recommended for speedy trial,” said Saran SP Hari Kishore Rai.
