The names of the former Apple employees accused of a charity fraud scheme are:
  • Siu Kei (Alex) Kwan: 37 years old, from Castro Valley
  • Yathei (Hayson) Yuen: 34 years old, from San Jose
  • Yat C (Sunny) Ng: 35 years old, from Milpitas
  • Wentao (Victor) Li: 38 years old, from Hayward
  • Lichao Ni: 39 years old, from Sunnyvale
  • Zheng Chang: 31 years old, from Union City

The employees are accused of stealing thousands of dollars from Apple through a three-year charity scheme. They are charged with multiple felony offenses, including: grand theft, conspiracy to commit felony grand theft, perjury, and tax fraud.

Prosecutors say the employees would donate to two charities, Hop4Kids and American Chinese International Cultural Exchange (ACICE), through a third-party platform called Benevity. Apple would match the donations at 100% or 200%. The employees would then falsely claim the donations as tax deductions. Kwan, who was the CEO of Hop4Kids and an accountant for ACICE, would allegedly reimburse the employees and keep the matching funds for himself.

If convicted, the employees could face jail time and be forced to pay restitution, fines, and fees.
