Thane Woman Raped In Singapore After Being Promised Film Roles, 4 Booked

Maharashtra Police on Sunday said that a case has been registered against a man for allegedly raping a 34-year-old woman on multiple occasions under the pretext of getting her good acting offers in the film industry.

While no arrest has been made so far in the case, one woman, her husband and their daughter have also been made accused in the case on charges of threatening and blackmailing the victim, officals said. As per the details, the victim belong to a Scheduled Caste and is a resident of Majiwada area of Thane city, news agency PTI reported.
According to an official from Kapurbawdi police station, the accused woman got in touch with the victim about three years back. She claimed to have contacts with people on influential positions in the film industry, and promised the victim to make her a big star. Later, the accused took the victim to Singapore and introduced her to a man, who she claimed a big person.

The man allegedly raped the victim after offering her drinks in his house in Singapore. The official said that the victim was also raped on various occassions at hotels in Mumbai and at other places.
The official added that the accused woman also filmed the victim in objectionable acts with the man and later she started blackmailing her. "The victim was also harassed and threatened by the accused woman, her husband and her daughter with dire consequences. The victim was also abused over her caste", th official said.
Based on the victim's complaint, the police has registered an FIR against the four accused under relevant legal provisions for rape, criminal intimidation and other charges as well as under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Further probe into the case is underway, the police said
