Guard shot in RM50,000 bank robbery
KUALA LUMPUR: Two trigger-happy robbers shot a security guard before robbing a bank of RM50,000 in Taman Sg. Besi Indah here. The 49-year-old guard, who was shot in the neck, was rushed to the Serdang Hospital. He is reported to be in stable condition.
The robbers fired a shot as they entered the bank at about 11.30am while the armed security guard was helping a customer near the automated teller machine in front of the bank yesterday. Selangor Deputy CID chief Asst Comm Khaw Kok Chin said the robbers, who were armed with an automatic pistol, also snatched the guard’s pump gun before entering the bank.
The robbers in full-faced helmets jumped behind the counter before instructing the cashiers to put the money into a bag, he said. “There were three bank employees and a customer in the bank when the incident occurred but no one was hurt except the guard.
