Guangzhou official assaults China Southern flight attendant

A male passenger who struck a flight attendant on China Southern Airlines flight 3874 from Hefei to Guangzhou on Aug. 30 is reported to be an important official from Guangzhou, triggering outrage among internet users. The victim and the assailant were taken to the airport police station for investigation, according to the microblog of Li Weiao, a reporter for the Chinese-language finance magazine Caijing.
The man who attacked the flight attendant is said to be Fang Daguo, a member of the party standing committee for Guangzhou's Yuexiu district and head of the district military office. The incident has sparked a furious reaction after it was disclosed by cabin crew and the Caijing reporter.
Li Weiao's microblog post has also been forwarded by internet opinion leaders such as real estate tycoons Pan Shiyi and Ren Zhiqiang, former Google China boss Kai-Fu Lee and others. The post has been forwarded more than 30,000 times and received nearly 6,000 comments.
