A grandmother mistakenly put her grandson through an X-ray machine at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, shocking airport security staff, reports the state-owned China News Service.
The confused grandmother, surnamed Chen, who was carrying her grandson through security, had never taken a flight before and was unaware of the procedures involved.
She copied her fellow passengers putting their carry-on luggage through the X-ray machine, placing the baby asleep in his basket onto the conveyor belt.
Security personnel saw the baby in the X-ray machine and immediately warned her coworkers to stop the machine, just in time to save the baby from receiving a high dose of radiation.
Chen said that this was the first time she had ever taken a plane, and was not aware of the danger she had placed her grandchild in.
