If oppositions ever manage to unseat PAP to become the next gov, it will be handicapped by PAP pulling the string from behind the scene. PAP cronies are everywhere, from Istana, judicial, civil service, SPF, SAF right to the grassroots. the country will end up like Hougang and PP where town council and grassroots organization work separately and the grassroots try to undermine the TC.
Not only so PAP opposition will be there to block any bill propose, cripple the entire gov . People will start to compare the gov now and previous gov thinking PAP will be able to do a good job then the current gov. Within one term, power will fall back into the hands of PAP.
Objectively speaking, life as an opposition with teeth is much easier than being the gov without real power. Oppositions should aim to capture 1/3 of the seats first. They will then have the power to veto any unjustifiable bill, push for greater transparency. The follies of the PAP gov will start to show up like a sore thumb, voters will start to doubt the competency of PAP. Opposition can then aim to unseat them in the next election.
