SINGAPORE — Amazon Singapore plans to create over 200 jobs in the city-state by the end of next year, as it scales up operations with a new three-storey office at Asia Square Tower 1.
The new roles will span consumer business and corporate functions, said the e-commerce giant in a press release on Wednesday (27 October).
The new office will occupy over 100,000 square feet and accommodate up to 700 employees from over 30 teams, including those supporting Amazon.sg and Amazon Fresh, Prime Video, Amazon Advertising, seller enablement, and other regional corporate functions.
Some 2,000 full- and part-time employees, the majority of whom are Singaporeans or permanent residents, currently work at Amazon here.
"Our new office at Asia Square demonstrates our ongoing commitment to invest in Singapore, and the long-term potential for the country to be a leader in the global digital economy," said its country manager Henry Low.
Speaking at the office's opening on Wednesday, Trade and Industry Minister Gan Kim Yong said Amazon has been a key partner in supporting the local business community.
"I am grateful for Amazon’s close partnership in various government initiatives throughout the pandemic that has helped Singapore SMEs (small and mid-size enterprises) move towards digital enablement and e-commerce adoption," Gan added.
