Ministry helmed by a million-dollar minister making an utterly useless statement.
Of course, most people will comply lah!
It is like saying:
- most people in SG are law-abiding
- most drivers in SG follow the Highway Code
- most cyclists in SG are law-abiding
It is the minority that is always causing the problems. The question is whether the PAP government is doing enough to enforce safe distancing measures.

SINGAPORE - While there are people who drink or congregate in big groups in public places after 10.30pm, the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) said the majority of the population have complied with the prevailing safe management measures.
More than 12,000 fines were issued to people for breaking Covid-19 regulations from April last year to end-September this year. Common breaches included gathering in groups larger than the permitted size and intermingling in places like food and beverage outlets, game courts in Housing Board estates, parks and beaches, and not wearing masks.
Migrant workers are allowed to consume alcohol in recreation centres or designated areas within the dormitories as determined by the operators, said the Ministry of Manpower. MOM officers conduct random enforcement checks in the immediate vicinity of the dormitories.
S11 Dormitory, which manages PPT Lodge 1B in Seletar North Link, said it has received feedback from members of the public and other sources on foreign workers drinking outside the facility.
When there are groups spotted drinking outside its dormitory, its operations team investigates if it involves workers from its facility.
An S11 Dormitory spokesman said: "There may be workers from other dorms who come by as well. Once the facts are ascertained, we will take the necessary action by informing the employers and counselling the resident accordingly. Our team also works hand in hand with the Singapore Police Force on patrol."
The dormitory operator added that all residents leaving and returning to the premises are subjected to security checks for alcohol, including orders via food delivery platforms. These beverages will be confiscated.
"However, if the worker is able to obtain drinks from outside the dorm, and they decide not to return immediately to the dorm after work, we are unable to intervene," said the spokesman.
An MSE spokesman said: "With the number of infections on the rise in recent weeks, it is more important than ever to strictly follow the safe distancing measures and safe management measures and practise social responsibility, even for those who are vaccinated.
"This will help us lower transmission risks and slow down the pace of community infections."
