On the 1st of March 2018, Grab’s driver app went inactive from 7.00am till 9.00am. We (the drivers), could not log into our accounts nor accept any trip requests throughout this period. Grab made no effort to inform us of their system failure at all.

We were all left stranded for that 2 hours without having any form of guidance of what had to be done. Our calls made to Grab’s hotline was unsuccessful as well and we were informed by a voice message that Grab was aware of the “system glitch” and their engineers were working on it. Wondering what exactly the problem was, we had to resort to logging into the social media to post questions and wait for updates from fellow Grab drivers (view pictures attached).

From start till the end, majority of us had to interact with fellow drivers and Grab was no part of this to assist us! We are sure that there were many drivers whom were left totally helpless.

Take note that during this period, Uber had a massive surge in its fares knowing that Grab was down. We lost all of our potential business to Uber drivers! We also lost out on our peak hour trip counts / incentives. The time now is 8.50pm. Almost 32 hours from that incident, Grab is yet to inform us of anything concerning the “blackout”, there has been no apologies, no official text or email messages and certainly no form of compensations.

For that 2 hours, take note that it was peak period, a Grab driver would have easily made $25 - $50. Maybe it’s just a small amount to some but it’s definitely a big amount to many. Big or small, our income was interrupted.

Sometimes it’s not just about the money but we are working / representing Grab and is this how Grab takes care of its drivers? Similar incidents have occurred in Uber and the drivers were regularly updated, formal apologies were made and atleast a small amount of compensation was made to the drivers.

We are totally disappointed with Grab and we DEMAND an official apology, an explanation and a fair compensation from Grab! Please be more professional Grab! Please care for your drivers and not just care about your 20% commissions. Always remember, without us drivers you are nothing! #grab #grabsingapore #lta#landtransportauthority
