Hong Kong indeed have something worthy to be proud of. Minimum wages, a very fundamental basic human right, is a trait of all first world civilised countries.
Singapore, is a self delusional and pseduo, swiss-living-standard wanna be. That first world civilised country status will remain an elusive unattainable dream for Sg because GDP and per capita income are not sufficient to qualify. It is fluncking in all the human rights departments of a first world civilised country including the minimum wage thing.
All Singapore want to proud of are childish and foolish things... like having the world tallest ferris wheel.

If PAP were to introduce minimum wage then their benchmark is going to be no more then $450 per month on 9 hours a day 6 days a week.

That's work out to be a hefty $2 an hour. And we are going to have more FTs by the plane load.

More job loss to locals
Employers will leave SG causing more unemployment
Gov should not interfere with business


BUT if Dirty Hairy change his mind and introduce min wage, he will come out and say the opposite, to support the policy

Protection of the poor and underclass
Prevent abuse
Human rights


They all have to be 2 or 3 headed snake in order to be in that position, Dirty Hairy don't pay them millions for nothing.

Our wages comprised about 41% of total GDP, which is very low by developed countries' standard. Wage cost is only one of the several major costs of business, with rental being another one.

There must be a good balance between the interest of landlords and that of peasants, and it has become increasingly clear that the govt is leaning too much towards the landlords.
