"...why US did not accept the Shah was becasue the Islamic revolutionaries had taken American hostages and their lives would be at risk if Shah was given refuge in US. This was the reason given in Kinzer's book "All the Shah's Men".

The Shah in the first place was a US puppet and today still is.
