This little car I found is how they captured street view, I had personally seen it in down town area and they had probably captured me as I saw them.

The GPS and cameras are mounted on roof of the car, computers inside, and they just drive around the city.

I saw them did it in 2 cars also, a bit of redundancy or extra for some reasons.

The car behind captured the car in front.

　　据新加坡《联合早报》报道，谷歌14日称，谷歌将完全停止通过使用其“街景”(Street View)技术的汽车收集无线保真技术(WiFi)网络数据，同时对这种错误“深表道歉”，也正在同各地监管当局商讨如何迅速地删除有关数据。
　　多年来，“街景车”不断收集人们在缺乏密码保护的WiFi网络发布的私人数据。
　　谷歌一直否认收集这类数据，但在德国汉堡数据保护局要求审查谷歌的WiFi数据时，才在一周前“惊觉”竟有这种失误活动。
　　“街景车”在路上行驶时，拍摄街景和收集在WiFi网络上公开发布的数据，充作谷歌编制在线地图服务的流动版数据。
　　谷歌工程与研究高级副总裁欧斯塔塞解释说：“我们的车子在经过公路之际，一些人当时正要使用网络，而我们车子的WiFi设备就会自动地在一秒内改变频道大概五次，因此只收集到零碎的数据。”
　　“街景车”收集到的私人数据，多达600千兆字节(gigabytes)，大略等于一个基本电脑硬盘的容量，其中可能包括网民收发的电邮和使用哪些网站的数据。
　　使用“街景”的34个国家和地区，包括日本、韩国、新加坡、欧洲21国、美国、加拿大、澳大利亚、新西兰、南非和中国的台湾、香港、澳门地区。（中新网5月16日电）

Saw something similar on my trip to Canberra once. Kind of cool with a big tower on top. Followed it for close to 100km till I gave up and overtook the car.

When you saw it, it SAW you! It is recording.

Like that red car in this photo, if you knew what street of which city it is, just go to maps.google.com street view and you WILL see this reporter who was taking this photo!
