SINGAPORE: The economy may be showing some signs of recovery but many Singaporeans are cutting back on their National Day festivities.
Some catering companies said they usually cater up to 1,500 tables each National Day.
But this year they have recorded a 5 to 10 per cent drop in business, as fewer customers placed reservations.
Besides the dip in orders, customers also want better deals, asking for extra food or services to be thrown in for free.
Many companies said customers have also requested for lower quotes for bookings.
