Former Malaysia prime minister Najib Razak’s son was spotted wining and dining an actress in Taiwan a day after his father was charged in Malaysia over RM42 million from a former 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) unit.
Who broke the news?
Taiwan’s Apple Daily claimed it witnessed Najib’s son, Mohd Nazifuddin Najib, dining and gallivanting with the actress on Thursday, July 5.
The duo appeared to have been filmed the entire day for several hours and did not suspect they were being tailed. Najib’s son also did not do anything to conceal his identity.
The woman has been identified by the publication as Celia Zhang.
Najib was officially charged in court on Wednesday, July 4.
What did the duo do?
The duo were purportedly at a steak restaurant in the Breeze Xinyi mall near Taiwan capital’s iconic Taipei 101 tower.
The two were seen drinking multiple glasses of red wine in a relaxed atmosphere.
Their meal was said to have lasted three hours, with two bottles of red wine uncorked.
The duo were subsequently seen taking a taxi to a massage parlour, before having a candlelight dinner and spending two hours at a bar.
Nazifuddin has been listed as both 30 and 31 years old this year.
Where did they end up?
Apple Daily claimed that the two then took another taxi ride to the Grand Hyatt hotel at around 1am.
Nazifuddin was noted to have written a Facebook post at 9.58pm the same night to show his support for his father, who was charged with corruption.
If true, it means that Nazifuddin’s note allegedly took place while he was having a candlelight dinner with the actress.
Was there proof of the duo’s activities?
The Apple Daily report came with a video clip showing brief footage and photos of the duo together taken in typical spy cam paparazzi fashion.
The report also said that Nazifuddin was seen together with the actress after he alighted from the plane on Thursday for his trip to Taiwan.
