MALACCA: Police have arrested a man whom they believe is the serial rapist terrorising product promoters at beauty centres in Negri Sembilan. The suspected rapist, who is said to have used his good looks and charm to lure his victims, was arrested in Kuala Sawah in Negri Sembilan on Dec 1 last year after police mounted a special operation. The sexual predator's two-month crime spree included robbing his victims of their valuables. The suspect is expected to be charged soon. Malacca CID chief Assistant Comm Mohd Adnan Abdullah said the suspect, in his early 20s, was said to have raped nine women, molested one and was foiled in his bid to rape another. He also robbed four of them.
Based on investigations the suspect, who works as an odd-job worker, is believed to have targeted women working at beauty centres. "He would source for his intended victims through advertisements in magazines before making calls to inquire about their products and beauty packages," ACP Mohd Adnan told reporters yesterday. He added that the suspect would then meet his intended victim and "sweet-talk" them into following him elsewhere on his motorcycle before robbing and raping them in a secluded area. It is learnt that the suspect is also being investigated for sexual assaults on underaged girls, who may also have been lured into following him on his motorcycle.
