</TR><!-- headline one : end --><!-- show image if available --></TBODY></TABLE>

<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I THANK Mr Ong Chee Seng for his letter on Monday, 'Baby-unfriendly poles on SBS buses'.
He mentioned that some of our buses have a divider (metal bar) fitted at the entrance and exit areas.
All public buses bought since 1995 are required to be fitted with this bar to comply with regulatory requirements. In particular, the bars facilitate passenger flow and provide a steady support for elderly and very young passengers who board the bus.
Newer buses that are wheelchair-friendly are also fitted with this bar at the entrance. However, we do not have it at the exit as it would otherwise block the passage of passengers in wheelchairs.
Opened prams are not allowed on board our buses for safety reasons. However, passengers with prams can seek assistance from our bus captains to take their folded prams on board while they carry their children up the bus.
