Sultan Ibrahim and his family are the rulers of Johor, the southern Malaysian state just across from Singapore. Among other holdings, Sultan Ibrahim has a stake in
Forest City, a US$100 billion development project off the coast of Johor led by Chinese investors.
“The king, who is also the sultan of Johor, may invite Chinese companies to participate in the high-speed rail project between Kuala Lumpur and Singapore – a significant portion of the line passes through Johor,” Koh said.
Sultan Ibrahim is also likely to share plans for the
Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, announced in January, which aims to strengthen business ties and increase connectivity between the two countries.
