（中央社記者溫貴香台北9日電）總統府發言人黃重諺今天對於外傳總統蔡英文恐退黨一事表示，總統對於初選的態度已完整說明，應以總統的說法為準，沒有人能幫總統代言，外界無意義的揣測和放話應適可而止。
蔡總統上午在總統府召開記者會說明對民進黨總統初選的看法後，下午也透過LINE官方帳號呼籲黨必須發揮領導功能，蔡總統說，如果最後勝選才是唯一考量，黨中央就不能只是辦選務、當裁判，要保持更大的彈性，來尋找最佳勝選方案。
賴清德下午也召開記者會重申堅定走完初選程序，並表示明天中執會不管是決定終止或延後初選程序，勢必對民進黨造成傷害，盼中執會讓初選穩定走下去。
卓榮泰稍晚也在黨中央召開記者會回應，「我既然因制度保障而來，就要為保障制度而生」，現行黨內初選制度存在的意義就是化解黨內紛爭，初選制度的演變就是解決內部紛爭、得到社會最大支持，制度可以做調整與修正，然而不宜在初選開跑後驟然做出改變。
卓榮泰記者會結束後，風傳媒晚間報導，據英營人士透露，因賴清德下午發言強硬，完全否定黨內頗有共識的「再延長初選時間」，加上無法從黨主席卓榮泰下午談話感受到迴旋空間，恐逼使蔡英文慎重考慮是否該離開民進黨。
