Singapore, July 24, 2009 - Got a craving for a thick slab of juicy steak? Or crispy chicken? In Singapore, we get to enjoy the wide array of amazing cuisines the western world has to offer.

This week, we say: Go west!

Hog's Breath Cafe
This Australian steakhouse buys only the best grain-fed beef. Its prime rib steaks (top) are slow-cooked for up to 18 hours, then seared on a char-grill to seal in moisture and flavour.

They come in several sizes with a choice of sauces and toppings like Spicy Blackened, Hickory Smoke Sauce, Garlic Mushrooms and Garlic Prawns. Prices start at $26.50.

Soul Cravings
One of this eatery’s signature dishes is Chicken Cordon Bleu (above), a boneless chicken leg rolled with honey baked ham and Emmental cheese and breaded with fine Japanese breadcrumbs.

This delectable dish is served with mixed salad, goma dressing and colourful home-made vegetable chips (Japanese purple potato, orange sweet potato and yam).

The Water Edge
As the restaurant’s name implies, you’ll practically sit by the water while working your way through the Tenderloin Steak ($23.50/ 200gm, above).

Flown from New Zealand, their succulent steaks come with baked potatoes and sautéed vegetables. The tough decision you have to make is which of the three carefully prepared sauces to choose – black pepper, garlic or mushroom.

Peppery Western Cuisine
Sink your teeth into foie gras, a popular delicacy in French cuisine. This dish requires up to two days to prepare, because it calls for special seasoning, patient curing and careful searing of the prized goose liver to deliver that heavenly taste.

The good news is that you can order a serving of this dish here without the trouble of preparing it yourself.

Buddy Hoagies Cafe & Grill
Taste mouth-watering Rosti & Grilled Sausage at this café. Swiss-style shredded potato is carefully pan-fried to perfection, then topped with a savoury “snail” sausage, charbroiled to a beautiful golden brown.

Some may call this a simple dish, but when loving attention is put into it, you end up with a meal worthy of gourmet taste buds.
