Girl found with wrists slashed
GEORGE TOWN: A 13-year-old girl was found unconscious at the staircase of an apartment in Macallum Street Ghaut here with at least 10 slash wounds on her left wrist. Neighbours who stumbled upon her at about 10am yesterday alerted her grandfather, who was staying in the same apartment block.
An ambulance rushed the girl to the Penang Hospital accompanied by her grandfather. She was reported to be in stable condition. It is learnt that no police report was lodged over the incident. The girl was allegedly involved in an argument with a family member a day earlier before the incident.
Her family thought she had gone to sleep after the quarrel. According to her grandfather, who declined to be named, the girl had mixed with the wrong company after entering secondary school.
In an unrelated development, investigation into a young bookie, who was rumoured to have driven a Lamborghini, showed he owned two cars but neither was the Italian model.
Police sources said the bookie, 24, owns a Volkswagen Scirocco and a Subaru Impreza worth a total of RM500,000. He said the young suspect had since been released on police bail.
