Some Bishan dwellers will be watching the matches on Indonesian channel

Mok Wai Choy has decided not to sign up for SingTel or StarHub's 2010 World Cup television packages. But he will still be supporting his beloved Italy from his living room as they defend their football crown in South Africa. For the 43-year-old has an alternative to pay-television - and it is free. He is one of several HDB residents in Bishan who can receive Indonesian channel RCTI.
All he does is hook up his televisions to an old-school wall socket that connects to the block's central antenna. Free-to-air RCTI is showing 29 of 48 group-stage matches and all of the knock-out matches live during the June 11-July 11 tournament. Mok, a machine operator who lives in a flat at Bishan St 23, works the night shift several times a week.
