The overwhelming majority of asylum seekers in Saxony are not politically persecuted. This is now evident from an answer to a great request from the AfD.
Dresden. – Interesting insights into the Saxon asylum seeker statistics is provided by a major AfD request. Of a total of 17,484 asylum seekers in 2023, only 75 were recognised as politically persecuted under Article 16a of the Basic Law, which corresponds to around 0.43 percent. For a further 6,597 migrants, the “protection status” was justified in other legal ways. In contrast, 5,097 applications were rejected. The cost of migration amounted to 652 million euros for the Free State alone last year, and in 2021 there will be 376 million euros.
This figure is particularly interesting because, according to the current police criminal statistics (PKS), migrants have contributed to an increase in crime. The number of crimes recorded has increased by 12,631 cases compared to the previous year. Particularly noteworthy is the significant increase in the suspects identified to a total of 92,358 people – an increase of 5,143 compared to the previous year. A large part of this increase is due to non-German suspects, which are significantly overrepresented in the PKS. In 2023, a total of 24,313 foreigners were registered as suspects, in the previous year it was 19.905. This corresponds to 26.3 percent of all suspects.
According to Wippel, it is particularly noteworthy that 88 percent of the 73,320 recognised asylum seekers in Saxony had only received a temporary protection status. This situation requires regular checks, particularly with the large group of beneficiaries for subsidiary protection, whether the security situation in the countries of origin has improved and whether a return is possible. He also points out that many European countries have already started returning to Syria, while the CDU has announced this since 2017, but not implemented.
