The reason: An asylum seeker had a cross on his necklace! According to the Regensburg police, several residents of Muslim faith were upset about the Christian symbol - a tumult ensued. When the security service wanted to clarify the situation, around 30 residents attacked the anchor center's security staff.

The violence escalated in one room of the accommodation on Wednesday evening: several security employees were attacked and more and more residents arrived. Five of the group attacked migrants with bottles and chairs, and fists also flew. According to a report in the Mittelbayerische Zeitung, one attacker is said to have even pulled out a knife.

The police were deployed with several patrols to calm the situation. Several migrants were temporarily arrested and five Tunisians were brought before an investigating judge at the request of the Regensburg public prosecutor. He issued five arrest warrants.

The accused, all of whom, according to BILD information, are from Tunisia, must answer for, among other things, particularly serious breach of the peace and grievous bodily harm.

Philipp Pruy, the criminal defense attorney for the main accused, did not comment when asked by BILD. Six security service employees were injured in the incident, three of whom required outpatient treatment.
