Boozy family airport bust-up

FALLEN soccer legend Paul Gascoigne punched his dad in the face during a boozy fight in front of stunned air passengers last night.

Police were called when the drunken star launched a ferocious attack on his father as they waited to board a plane.

The former Spurs and England ace began swearing at two male officers as they dragged him off. He screamed: "P****s! Take your guns off and I'll have you as well."

The drama unfolded at Gatwick airport as the ex-footballer checked in for a British Airways flight to Faro with his dad John and brother Carl.

The trio were escorted through to the BA Club Lounge in the North Terminal where they waited for Flight 6888 at 7.35pm.

Other travellers said father-of-two Gazza, described as already "very unsteady on his feet" headed straight to the free bar.

He then became embroiled in a heated row with his family, which ended in a fist fight.

Staff called police as travellers and Carl Gascoigne struggled to separate the two brawlers.

A witness said: "Gazza was arguing with his dad before the punches started to be thrown. It was horrible to watch a father and son exchanging blows. They were really going at it.

"Gazza was sozzled and could barely stand up. He looked as if he'd been drinking for hours.

"When the police arrived he began abusing them too. He was screaming his head off and frightening children who were in the lounge. "

A police source said officers decided not to arrest Gascoigne after pleas from his brother. Carl and John Gascoigne, who was nursing a black eye, were booked on to the first possible flight to Newcastle.

The whereabouts of Gazza - a notoriously nervous flyer - were unknown.

He was understood to be planning to catch another flight today. The trio had been planning a week away in the sunshine together.

A Sussex Police spokesman told the Mirror: "We were called to an incident in the British Airways lounge in the North Terminal at Gatwick.

"A male adult was asked to leave by BA staff. Police officers assisted the man in leaving the area."

A BA spokeswoman added: "A male passenger was escorted from our executive customer lounge by police following disruptive behaviour. We apologise to any our our passengers for any disturbance."

Tormented Gazza, 38, won 57 caps for England but for all his talent it was his off-field antics that made the headlines.

The famous binge drinker, who has suffered manic depression and pneumonia, broke down after admitting he assaulted his ex-wife Sheryl.

In three new chapters of his updated autobiography Gazza: My Story, published last month, he wrote of his wife-beating shame: "It was the worst thing I ever did.

"But the truth is I always loved Shel. She was the one for me."
