The blast occurred at around 11:30am on Feb. 13 on the 12th floor of the popular shopping centre, located in the Xitun district of Taichung City.
Eyewitness accounts, cited by the Taichung Fire Bureau, indicated that four people were apparently propelled out of the 12th floor windows by the force of the explosion.
Emergency services received a report of the incident at 11:33am, prompting the immediate dispatch of firefighters and ambulances to the scene.
The explosion is believed to have resulted from a gas leak during the replacement of a gas tank in the mall's food court.
The food court was closed at the time due to ongoing construction work.
The Taichung City government has issued an emergency alert in response to the incident.
Mayor Lu Shiow-yen, speaking to reporters at the site, revealed she had felt the shockwave while working in her office nearby.
In a statement on his Facebook page. Taiwan president Lai Ching-te urged a swift investigation into the incident
