Gang carts away ATM with RM150,000
SEREMBAN: A gang made off with an automated teller machine (ATM) containing RM150,000 from a bank in Seremban 2 near here early yesterday. Seremban police chief Assistant Commissioner Saiful Azly Kamarudin said the incident occurred between 3.15am and 4am, and was well-planned.
"The CCTV recording showed all the suspects were wearing masks and police believe there were more than three persons involved. "They began by spraying the closed-circuit television camera with paint before breaking down the glass partition where nine ATM and cash deposit machines were located, before prising out one of the ATMs and carting it away."
He said the bank's alarm was triggered during the incident but the suspects managed to disable the system before the security company could be alerted. He said the robbery was discovered at 6.50am by a customer who wanted to withdraw money from the bank.
Police later found the stolen ATM in a plantation in Jalan Labu near here at 11am. "Police are going through the CCTV recording to identify those involved."
Members of the public with information on the case are urged to contact 06-603 3222 to assist in the investigation. Bernama
